PEB Structure, also known as a pre-engineered building structure, is a steel-based construction system in which the structural components are engineered and fabricated before being transported to the construction site for assembly. The system is developed according to the dimensions, loading conditions, functional requirements, and layout of the proposed building. It is commonly used for factories, warehouses, industrial sheds, workshops, storage facilities, logistics buildings, and commercial structures.

A typical PEB structure includes primary steel frames, secondary structural members, bracing systems, roofing, wall cladding, and other required accessories. The primary framing supports the major structural loads, while secondary members provide support for roofing and wall systems. The complete arrangement is determined through structural calculations and engineering drawings based on the building's span, height, length, width, bay spacing, roof slope, and applicable loading conditions.

The design of a PEB structure can be adapted to different sites and operational requirements. Single-span and multi-span structures can be developed depending on the required floor area and internal arrangement. Building height can be planned according to machinery, storage, production, or material-handling requirements. Features such as mezzanine floors, crane systems, canopies, ventilation, insulation, skylights, doors, and windows can also be incorporated into the building design where required.

Manufacturing is carried out according to approved engineering drawings. Steel components undergo processes such as cutting, drilling, welding, assembly, surface preparation, and inspection. Each fabricated component is prepared according to its specified dimensions and connection details. Components are then organised for transportation and subsequent erection at the project site.

The site installation process generally begins with the preparation of foundations and anchor points. Once the fabricated steel components arrive at the site, primary frames are erected, followed by secondary framing, bracing, roofing, wall cladding, and other components. Proper sequencing of transportation and erection helps maintain coordination between the manufactured components and the building layout.

PEB structures are suitable for applications where large usable spaces and adaptable building layouts are required. Warehouses can be designed with open areas for storage and movement of materials, while factories can be configured around production lines, machinery, and working areas. Industrial sheds can accommodate different operational layouts, and commercial or storage buildings can be designed according to their specific space requirements.

Another important aspect of PEB structure is the controlled manufacturing process. Since major steel components are fabricated before reaching the construction site, structural fabrication can be carried out under factory conditions. This allows cutting, drilling, welding, and component preparation to follow predetermined engineering specifications. Site activities can therefore focus mainly on assembly and installation.

Material selection and structural design depend on the project's location and requirements. Factors such as wind conditions, seismic conditions, imposed loads, environmental exposure, building usage, and future expansion requirements may influence the design. Roofing and wall systems can also be selected according to insulation, ventilation, weather protection, and internal environmental requirements.

PEB structure is therefore an integrated approach to steel building construction that combines engineering, detailing, fabrication, transportation, and site erection. Its flexibility in dimensions, structural configuration, roofing, cladding, insulation, and internal arrangements allows it to be used across different industrial and commercial applications. Proper planning at each stage helps ensure that the finished structure corresponds with the intended building design and functional requirements.
