Bringing a KitchenAid Mixer from London to Lagos Without Paying Lagos Prices

Ask any Lagos home baker what she wants for her small chops and cake business and you will hear the same answer: a proper KitchenAid stand mixer. Then she checks the price and sighs.

On 1 November 2026, HomeKits Nigeria listed the KitchenAid 175 Artisan 4.8L Stand Mixer at ₦1,600,000. The same Artisan 175 4.8L model sells at John Lewis in the UK for £519. It is the UK 230V version, so it plugs straight into a Nigerian socket with the same Type G plug.

How the London–Lagos maths works

On Qrrier, a shopper in Lagos posts the request, and a traveler flying London to Lagos buys it and brings it in their luggage. The shopper pays the item price plus traveler reward and fees, about 1.26 × the item price: £519 × 1.26 = £653.94, roughly ₦1,178,000 at 1 November's rate (₦1,801 per pound). That is about ₦422,000 less than the Lagos shelf price, a saving of around 26%.

Three people win on one trip

• Travelers earn. Spare luggage space on your London–Lagos flight becomes money. When the delivery is confirmed, your reward is paid instantly in USDC, held in escrow on Base until then. No waiting 3 to 15 days like on Grabr.

• Senders ship fast and cheap. Need to send documents or a small parcel to family in Ikeja or Abuja? A traveler already on the route is often quicker and cheaper than DHL or FedEx.

• Shoppers buy cheaper from anywhere. Mixers, watches, sneakers, books: if it costs less abroad, someone flying your way can bring it.

Not just London to Lagos

Qrrier is global. It works between any two countries: Houston to Abuja, Dubai to Port Harcourt, Guangzhou to Kano, or Lagos to Toronto when diaspora family want garri and ankara going the other way. The escrow is the same everywhere: payment is locked until the item is delivered.
